U-Turn launches mi-change vouchers

More than 10 years after U-turn pioneered vouchers as a way to responsibly give to people in need on the streets of Cape Town, we are launching the Mi-change voucher.

What are Mi-change vouchers?

Mi-change vouchers are powered by U-turn in partnership with MES, and will replace the U-turn voucher.

Previously, U-turn vouchers were only redeemable at U-turn service centres. When you give your Mi-change voucher to a person in need, they can redeem it any U-turn or MES service centre in Cape Town.

That means your voucher can now assist more people in more locations across the city including the Northern and Southern suburbs, and the Southern peninsula.

You can see a map of voucher redemption points here: michange.org

What does it cost?

Mi-change vouchers cost less than U-turn vouchers. A pack costs R50 and includes four vouchers.

Purchase your pack online for delivery to your door or find a list of partnering shops across the city at michange.org

What does it provide?

U-turn vouchers used to provide access to only meals or clothing. Mi-change service providers all offer one or more of the services listed below:

  • Meals
  • Clothing
  • A shower
  • Toiletries
  • A bed for the night  in a safe space
  • A blanket

A Mi-change voucher allows access to one of the services above. Please note some of the service (such as a bed for the night) require two vouchers and depends on the availability of beds.

What doesn’t change?

For Dimitri, a voucher meant a pathway out of homelessness. You have the power to change in your pocket. MES and U-turn offer access to a development program with professional support and rehabilitation services.

If you’d like to know more about Mi-change vouchers please contact info@michange.org or go to michange.org
